A birthday on the Pink Yacht is one of the most photographed parties you'll go to in Dubai — every surface on board is pink. A little planning makes your outfit work with the boat instead of disappearing into it.

Colours that work against pink

White and cream — the cleanest contrast.
Black — bold and striking against pink.
Gold, silver, metallics — beautiful at sunset.
A different pink — hot pink or fuchsia against the boat's softer pink.
Skip pale pastel pink if you want to stand out in the photos.

Shoes

Flat sandals, clean trainers or bare feet on deck. Heels and yacht decks don't mix — bring them for the photo if you must, then swap.

Sun and wind

Bring sunglasses, sunscreen and a light layer for after sunset, when the breeze on the water can feel cooler. A hat that won't blow away is a bonus.

When to celebrate

The cooler months, roughly October to April, are the most comfortable for a birthday on deck, and also the busiest — weekend sunset slots are the first to go. In the hot months, choose a late-afternoon or evening start and make use of the shade on the flybridge and aft deck and the air-conditioned salon. Dubai's sunset is at about 5:30 to 6:00 pm in winter and close to 7:00 pm in midsummer; start about an hour before it.
